Poplar began as Camp Poplar in the 1870s and became headquarters of the Fort Peck Reservation after the Army left in 1893. At 1,988 feet on US 2, it is the seat of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes and home to Fort Peck Community College, a school district, a critical access hospital, an Indian Health Service clinic, and tribal justice facilities.
We rent mobile kitchen trailers, dishwashing trailers, and emergency refrigeration trailers as short-term rentals or long-term leases. Call any hour or request availability and a quote for your Poplar site.
Elevation from the Open-Meteo elevation model. Temperatures are averages for January lows and July highs in 2022 to 2024, from Open-Meteo reanalysis data.
At roughly 1,990 feet there is no altitude adjustment for burners, ovens, or dish-machine water. Humidity and heat matter more, and we plan refrigeration and ventilation around them.
Average January nights here drop to about 9°F. For a winter rental we confirm insulated hoses, heat tracing, and a generator or shore-power plan that keeps the heaters running.
Poplar's July highs average about 86°F. That is a normal load for our equipment, but it is enough to expose an aging walk-in cooler, which is a common reason people call us.
Expect a long delivery: roughly 335 miles straight-line from Helena. Tell us the date you need the kitchen running and we plan the haul, the escort needs, and the setup crew around it.
Poplar Indian Days is an annual powwow around Labor Day weekend at American Legion Park. The 2025 edition ran three days of grand entries with more than 20 special dance contests. Host committees and caterers feeding dancers, drummers, and families may need prep space, cooking lines, and dishwashing beyond what a park offers.
Poplar has a hospital, an Indian Health Service health center, a tribal correctional facility, and a public school district, all of which depend on reliable food service and cold storage. If a dish machine, range line, or walk-in fails, a temporary kitchen or refrigeration trailer can bridge the repair period.
Fort Peck Community College has its main campus here, and Poplar Public Schools serves students from the same town. When a cafeteria or serving line closes for repairs or upgrades, a temporary kitchen trailer can keep meal programs going without interrupting the school or college calendar.
We keep equipment in Helena, the Montana capital, and plan every delivery from there. Poplar is about 335 miles from the warehouse as the crow flies; the actual road route, timing, and any permits are confirmed when we quote.
US 2, the Hi-Line, runs through Poplar. From the Helena warehouse, I-15 north meets US 2 at Shelby, and US 2 then continues east across northern Montana. Regional reports describe wind-driven low visibility and emergency-travel-only advisories in northeast Montana, so check Montana Department of Transportation conditions before a winter haul.
The closest towns we serve are Wolf Point (about 21 miles), Culbertson (31 miles), and Richey (33 miles).
Open 24/7
All of Roosevelt County lies within the Fort Peck Reservation, so tribal and county responders share emergency work. When a winter storm, power loss, or equipment failure takes down a hospital, clinic, or school kitchen, 24/7 emergency deployment can help.

Rentals run by the month, with short-term and long-term options. Delivery, setup, and pickup are coordinated for your site. An inquiry does not reserve equipment; a person confirms availability, delivery time, and terms with you. Hours: open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Setup usually takes about five hours for kitchens and dishwashing trailers and about one hour for refrigeration units, and an inquiry is the first step, not a reservation.
A closed kitchen does not stop anyone from being hungry. Dependable Poplar mobile kitchen rentals, backed by people who answer the phone, keep meals on schedule while the permanent kitchen is out.
Delivery and setup of Poplar mobile kitchen rentals are coordinated around your schedule in Poplar, with timing confirmed at quote.
(888) 385-5513 is answered all day and all night. If a cooler fails at 2 a.m., that is the number to call.
One team helps choose the trailer, plans the hookups, and collects it when the job is done.
Terms run from a single week to a long lease, matched to how long your own kitchen will be out of service.
Commercial-grade cooking, dishwashing, and refrigeration equipment built for daily institutional use.
Site access, placement, power, water, and wastewater are checked before the trailer is on the road.
Our customers run commercial and institutional kitchens, including hospitals, schools, government and military sites, hotels, correctional facilities, and caterers. What we promise is what we can confirm: someone answering the phone at any hour, coordinated delivery and setup, and a written quote that states terms before you agree to anything.
Lost cold storage, a fire or flood in the kitchen, or a failed dish-room inspection can all call for a trailer fast. Phone us, and we start working out the replacement while you gather the address and power details.
Montana moved temporary food permitting to the county where the operation sets up, but Poplar is on the Fort Peck Reservation, so tribal authorities may also be involved. Confirm with the Roosevelt County health department and tribal health officials which approvals your site needs.
That depends on space, power, water, and drainage at the venue. Talk with the Indian Days organizers and the county or tribal health office about placement, hookups, and any food-service rules before the event dates.
Call (888) 385-5513 at any hour and we begin planning on that call. Trailers leave from our Helena warehouse, and the delivery time to Poplar depends on the equipment and the road, which we confirm in your quote.
No. An inquiry starts the conversation only. Nothing is held until we have confirmed availability, delivery time, and terms with you.
